I have tried every setting on my Samsung S4 to get past this problem. Could it be as simple as my Verizon account not being recognized by them, or a mobile setting being the problem. My wife has the identical phone and she reports no issues when traveling. One symptom bothers me though.... when I attend church five blocks away, the phone keeps turning off/shutting down on its own no matter how many times I restart it, BUT... if I bring my factory charging system..... the phone stays on.. does not shut down. ..... Any ideas and advice would be most welcome.

Have you tried a temporary battery swap with your wife?

No, I haven't. But I did order other spare batteries to keep as spares for our longer trips. Essentially the same thing happens when I have replaced the batteries, but I usually just use the original battery.
P.S. .... Thanks for the quick response.

Eeeee !!! Safe mode----- not sure what that is.... guess Id better search that out. I know what it is on my laptop... but the phone, doesnt seem to jog anything in my head.

Safe Mode temporarily disables all 3rd party apps you installed. It can narrow the problem down to something you installed vs. something that was preinstalled on the phone.
