S5 Recovery Password lost - No google retrieval option

Hi all,

So my father has an S5 and played with it when he first got it (>1year ago) and apperantly had added his fingerprint & a recovery password.

He put a bunch of data in private mode by mistake today and absolutely needs it for work. He's tried a bunch of passwords and all of them get rejected. Eventually he gets told he needs to wait 30sec. After the 30 seconds it just asks him for the same password. We've tried using the fingerprint (never used it so not sure how it works but no reaction from the phone) and we've tried to access the fingerprint & recovery password settings to change them but we can't get in without the recovery password..

I've read online that there should be an option to recover using the google account attached but we can't find it, but this seems to be for locked out devices. My dad has no password on his so that isn't an issue, it's in the settings that we are stuck

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Unfortunately if they were placed in private mode with a password then you need the same password to retrieve the files.

Did he set up a Samsung Account? Sign in on the Samsung website and unlock remotely
