S5, S Health, Garmin ANT+ hrm strap?

Maybe I'm missing something here.
As I understand it, my S5's heart rate monitor should be able to work with the garmin ant+ soft strap.
When in the S Health app I have it perform a "detect accessories" and it doesn't find it. Did I misunderstand this and/or am I doing something wrong?

I am trying to do the same with my S6. Have you had any luck?
