S5 vs S6 camera

It's official. My girlfriend recently purchased an S6. I quickly noticed the picture quality of the S6 to be so much better. At the time, we were in the dressing room of a department store (no natural light) and taking pics of each other in dresses. We did a side by side view. My S5? Cloudy. Grainy. Light blur from the lights. Hers? Perfect. And I mean perfect. We both had settings at default. 16mp. I had mine on 800 ISO. Tried HDR as well and no difference. I have read all of the excuses and alleged user errors on these threads but I am convinced that it is not me, or my settings, or my too high expectations...the camera is horrible. Period. Any fix? I've done factory reset; changed so many settings you couldn't imagine (all bases off of comments on here); and yes, the plastic film is off. This is my first galaxy. Purchased outright because it was discounted because the S6 was coming out soon. Any thoughts before I am forced to buy a new phone?

Re: S5 vs S6 camera

Without seeing an example, it is tough to say... But based on what your describing, I wonder if the camera in your phone is defective. I have an S5 Active and I just took a couple of low light shots and they don't seem to be as bad as what you're describing. Is it possible to exchange your phone for another one? Or at least try another S5 in low light?

Low light situations is tough for cameras - especially camera phones with small sensors that have extremely small pixels packed in! But obviously some cameras do better than others. I know the S6 has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and the S5 does not. This could make a big difference in sharpness/clarity.

My s5 takes horrible shots in low light too. ( and every review that I've seen online agrees with my previous statement). That's why when the note 4 came out samsung kept the same sensor and lens but added optical image stabilization to it. Without the flash it takes horrible pictures unless I'm outside on a sunny day

The s6 is a much much better camera in low light situations, but at the end of the day it's still a phone camera and no phone has a perfect camera. At the time the s5 came out it had a better camera than any other phone out there.

To answer the original question, try taking those pictures with flashes? The gs5 does have a great sensor that takes good pictures. It's just in low light situations that it struggles.
