So my phone is constantly looking for my location.. Idk why it is but I'm finding it to be very battery draining since my lock screen is showing my phone looking for location is their away I can reduce it or find what app is searching for my location without me being in the app I don't want to shut it off

Mines does the same thing. I'm really curious to know why it's always searching GPS when I wake it up. 8/10 times I wake it up I see that on the screen.

Have you guys looked at the Location settings to see which apps are using your location services, and see if any of them are on high for reasons other than normal usage?

I know Snapchat has a high usage if you turn on it's location based filters, but other than that and the weather app, nothing else really uses location data out of the ordinary for mine even though I also see the "location set by gps" notification.
I tested it against leaving location settings to "wifi and networks only" and there was no difference in battery drain for me.

It's your location setting. Settings > Personal > Accounts > Google > Location settings > Location method

change it to something other than GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks and you won't get constant (every 10 minutes for me) location searches. Bear in mind that "GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks" is the highest accuracy setting.

Thanks I tried this and will see how it works out I changed it to mobile network and wifi

If you don't use it, also try turning Location History off in the setting just below that. My battery life improved dramatically when I changed that setting.

It's weird I also see that pop up quite often. I haven't noticed a dramatic battery drain as a result of it though. I think it is no different when my other phones GPS icon pops up all the time in the notification shade. This phone just happens to show you when it actually checks GPS by displaying an actual notification.

This was happening to me too, it's something with the GPS. I switched to WiFi and mobile networks, and it doesn't pop up anymore. ☺

I wish I could do this. I use google maps fairly often and don't feel comfortable without as high location accuracy as possible. Its been a while since I've turned off GPS so maybe WiFi/mobile networks is better than I remember.

I have found this to be a lollipop issue rather than a Edge issue. I had this same issue with my LG G3 as soon as the lollipop update came and I found my edge has the same issue. I change the setting to network only and it fixes it. If I need the GPS I change it to the higher accuracy setting.

It's good to hear that I'm not the only one with this issue... Hopefully it will be fixed in the 5.1+ update

Using this other setting has been as accurate as when I was using GPS while using maps so maybe try it out. I use maps often and haven't had any trouble

I had this issue on my samsung galaxy s6 edge as well. I found out it was the stock Samsung weather Damon using the GPS all the time. once I disable that I leave it on high accuracy and the battery barely drains at all. There are many options for weather widgets and apps that will allow you to not use the location service if you must have a weather app. I personally use HD widgets because it gives you the option use towers only. In order to disable weather Damon just go to settings then applications, weather should be at the bottom. Turn everything off.

The stock weather widget can be set to turn location off and manually set city. I do that and it stops the gps from running and battery does better.

I just got the latest update and this issue has not been resolved. Would be nice if we had permissions control to decide which application had access to what information they had needed.

How did you do that?

Stock internet browser and Google Play Services are always asking for location and there seems to be no way to turn those off either.
