S6 finger print scanner on Note 4

It would be great if the finger print scanner hardware is the same for both models, that way we know a software update for the note 4 will remove the stupid swipe gesture and make it a simple touch gesture. That will make this phone more than perfect for me...

If it's not the same hardware, i doubt a software update will change that.

knowing Samsung along with other brands of course would probably prefer to have us buy their newer phones with new features so I highly doubt Samsung would be that generous to their loyal Samsung users.

Title pretty much says it all. With the s6 having a better touch scanner instead of the swipe. I dont know enough about it to know if its a software thing or not. But it would be nice!

It's called Touch ID and it's a hardware feature. No way they can update it through a software update. The hardware is more expensive, but much more convenient than the swipe capacitive finger scanner on current Sammy phones.

Touch ID is nothing to do with Samsung. the new fingerprint scanner on the S6 works in exactly the same way, but is actually different technology. Touch ID is patented by Apple.

But you are right in saying that it cannot be updated with software. The new scanner is new hardware. Shame they didn't introduce it on the Note 4.

, Hi there I think actually it can be upgraded by software. I was interested also on this n made my own research start to read n contact Samsung support with such questions. I think it's market n the won't do it...maybe the will but abt 20%sure...they do such cz they wanna sell newer phones...n why I'm telling it can be upgraded. Ive just downloaded one app it's called easyHome for Samsung, u can get it on Google store. this app says touch to jump home...touch to lock the phone or star camera...supports only s6 n note5...other phones with fingerprint sensor can work...I'm using galaxy alpha. So it works...with one touch I can get all these features. Samsung holds marketing way ambitions n rules...if it won't be on marshmallow update as s6...so u can buy another phone...I'm starting to think abt to change Samsung by another much more supported one by company, that would take updates n everything on time...don't wherelse to write to get positive answer
