Samsung Galaxy S7
Verizon - Android 8 (several weeks ago w/o issue)

Tonight when I pulled it from my pocket w/o any recent drops or relevant events, it has the black screen of death.

The phone appears to be on, reset attempts do generate vibrations. I hear sounds like texts coming in, but no attempt to reboot gets the screen to come on.

I've tried - charging the phone, as it may have been very low or even completely drained? The phone did warm up like the battery was charging, but showed nothing on the screen.

None of these have fixed the issue, but some do generate an acknowledging vibration:

1) Power + Volume Down
2) Power + Volume Up
3) Vol Up + Down + Power
4) Volume Up + Home + Power
5) Volume Down + Home + Power
Have tried these w/ and w/o the phone plugged in.

Where to go from here?
Will letting it fully discharge over time and then trying to charge help?
I'm not even sure it's on now, so, won't know when its discharged.

Earlier a flashing blue led was present, now nothing.

I've tried googling options and nothing seems to work.

Next ideas?

Try this:

Force Restart. To force restart your device, press and hold the Volume down key and Power/Lock key on the device for 10–20 seconds. This performs a simulated battery disconnect.

Thx for the reply.... that was the 1st thing the original post said I had tried.... after working w/ this over the weekend including actually waiting for the battery to completely die, I believe the screen / digitizer went bad or at least has a bad connection. Phone responds to buttons / combinations, even triggered a factory reset using another S7 to get the button combinations and timing down. Nothing works to get the screen to come back on.

Did you ever get it working? I am having the exact same symptoms and you're the only person I have found with the same issues, lol.

No, I did not get it working. Looked at options to buy a new screen and install myself and decided it was not worth the expense.

Moved on to a new / used phone. Am glad I did.

HI, I have exactly the same issue and Im able to recover my phone using the reboot combination (volume down + power). But it's not easy to make it work and take a lot of tries, basically it's what I do:
- Press vol down + power for 20 seconds then release
- Wait for ten seconds (sometimes it reboot but sometimes I only get a blue light blinking)
- I hold down only the power button until the blue light turn off
- Go back to step one until you get a successfull reboot (its a pain in the *** and it can take a lot of time)

Please, if anyone have any idea what causes this issue, let me know. I hope it helps!
