Hi All,

I just came back from vacation on an island off the coast of central america. I used the S7 Edge to capture all of my video and pictures so I wouldn't have to carry around a NikonD800/810.

I must say...the S7 Edge is a great phone for pictures and video. I used it under water to capture about 6 hours of video with no case. The max depth I took it down to was about 25 feet. No issues with the phone besides not being able to charge it via usb cable until the next day but I could still charge via wireless...glad I brought the wireless charger.

I have the S8+ now so I am looking forward to see how that compares.

Thanks. Yes, it's nice to be able to just carry a phone around now and not a camera with lenses, etc., especially on vacation.

You do realize that the phone has not been rated safe to use beyond 5 feet of water, so taking it down to 25 feet is a huge gamble on your part, especially since the salt water is corrosive.

That is correct. I have used it in my pond recording fish at over 5' and never had an issue. Also, I rinsed it off really well after I was done. They also say it's not safe for more than 30 minutes under water but it works after several hours. If it breaks, I have my S8+ and prior to that, I would have just had to get another one.

I'm the type of person where, if Samsung tells me my phone has water resistance, I trust them, but never test that trust and dunk in water on purpose lol.

Just feel weird to be putting my expensive electrical device in water. Anyway, thanks very much for sharing the photos, they look really good. The first photo was really impressive, don't know how you pulled that off with no water on the lense. :)

Keen to see what you take with your S8!
