s7 Edge with 2012 Chevy Equinox

Trying to play music from my device through my car stereo, via USB.

Connect my Galaxy s7 Edge to car, via USB,
Vehicle: 2012 Chevy Equinox
- MTP connection, Allow
- stereo continuously says, 'Reading USB'.
- this message displays for hours on end with no progression
- try to access music on my phone via stereo
- select 'songs', 'playlists', etc
- stereo says "Indexing in progress..."
- this message displays for hours on end with no progression.
- MTP connection, Don't Allow
- vehicle stereo not able to detect phone at all.

Sansung usb cable - no fix
3rd party cable - no fix
spoke with dealer - no fix
waiting to hear back from Samsung

anyone have any ideas on this?

I hve a 2016 Trax and the same issue. Or if it does play, its all my sounds and ringtones. I think I read somewhere that it is Androids file system that causes this, but i could be wrong.

Would guess that the Equinox only reads USB devices if they are Mass Storage Class (MSC) or iPods; the former got the boot a few Android versions ago.

Unless Chevy's firmware can now read MTP devices...

I doubt it. I have an ipod touch and it reads that fine.
