S7 started acting weird

A few days ago my unlocked S7 started acting like I have it against my ear, even when holding it in my hand. When I make a phone call the screen immediately goes black and remains dark even when I remove it from my ear. I would then have to press the home button in order to hand up. Also what's app messages play through the phone speaker as if I'm holding it to my ear even when I'm holding it flat and it should be playing on the speaker. Waving it up and down doesn't change anything.

Anyone else experience this? Is this the proximity sensor? Is there a way to replace it (easily)?

Do you have a screen protector on? If so, consider taking it off and seeing if the same thing happens. Or, if it looks pretty dirty over the proximity sensor, make sure it's cleaned up.
