S8 or S8+

S8 battery is impressive! Having been a previous Samsung user, and having been disappointed in the past, I am quite impressed with the S8!

NOW that being said, I'm sure the S8 Plus is just as good! Is there a wrong answer here? I think you would be fine with either phone! It's all in your taste for size.

That's interesting. I'm coming from an iPhone 7 Plus which has phenomenal battery life. It also charges very quickly when connected to my car with CarPlay. My experience with my last (brief) foray into the S8+ was that it trickle charged incredibly slowly in the same situation.. so instead of arriving with 100% at my destination, I'd have just as much as I did before I plugged it in.

I remember using the S7 Edge late last year and thought the battery was appalling. Which I couldn't understand because everybody else said it was amazing!

Let me qualify my previous Samsung experiences, I had a Note 2 & 4, and a Galaxy S4 and 5, AND the original Nexus, THOSE phones had less than ideal battery life. This S8 is super impressive and yea quick charge is "da bomb"

Hello all, after asking questions and getting answers from a few of you (thank you again) I think I have decided to switch to the S8 from the LG V20. The only thing that has me wondering now is whether to get the S8 or S8+. I compared the S8+ to the V20 and the S8+ is just a tad smaller, also with a Huuuge 6.2" screen compared to the V20's 5.7". The S8 has a 5.8" phone but is smaller than both, so I don't think that would be the easiest to go for, for me at least. I would definitely jump for the S8+, but the S8 is cheaper at the moment at Best Buy for $17.50 a month compared to the S8+ which is $21.50 a month (both are on Verizon.) Any help/tips would be much appreciated, thank you very much.

It's really going to be a preference call on your part. You can't really go wrong with either phone. I went with the S8+. Mostly, because I was coming (back) to Android from an iPhone 6s Plus and like the extra screen real estate. I'm on the tall side, so the larger size wasn't a big factor for me. I also keep it in my front pocket and it doesn't feel like I'm carrying a brick; which is what carrying my 6s Plus felt like.

I still struggle with this issue. I ended up getting the regular S8 only bc it was the first one I handled and in one hand it felt amazing. However I still am on the fence between the two devices. Right now I'm actually considering selling my S8 to get the Mate 9 so go figure one who wanted a one handed phone to get rid of it and go to the 5.9 inch Mate 9 but to me EMUI is the best interface I've ever used so if the honor 9 was released already I'd actually be typing on it right now. I briefly handled the plus model and it just felt large but then again I'm considering the Mate 9 and it's a rather large device. I will say the majority of S8 users seem to be the plus model. That said I can easily watch a movie on my regular S8 as it still has a 5.8 inch screen. One of the main things I've had a hard time getting used to is just how narrow both devices are. I know their ratios are built to be different and that is what I'm feeling. I watched a movie on my regular S8 today as a matter of fact and I can tell you another thing that real world you can't tell a difference is the screen resolution being set at 1080p or 2940 or whatever the higher resolution is you cannot tell a difference I've found even watching a movie. So I keep mine at 1080p to preserve battery life supposedly but seriously you really can't tell the difference between the two resolutions at least on the regular S8 you can't. That said both resolutions look great! Maybe the plus is different with a larger 6.2 inch screen but on the 5.8 inch 1080p looks the same and is plenty crystal clear enough. I'm not so sure that the two resolutions to be somewhst of a gimmick bc in reality 1080p at the size of a phone appears as clear as any resolution to be. I'm not buying it so I leave mine at 1080p which I've read helps battery life. True? I don't know other than I cannot tell a difference between the two resolutions when watching a movie at all. Anyone have any other thoughts on this as I've also been told by a hidh up engineer with apple that 1080p is possibly the best resolution you can get on the screen size of a phone anyway. He compared it to TVs and it made a lot of sense but then again he's an engineer and I'm just a user.

If the video itself is in 1080p playing it in a 1080p or 1440p screen will make no difference.

If you really want to see the difference between FHD and WQHD, pay attention to the sharpness of the folders icons, and the sharpness of text in your settings and in different apps.

My coworker has an S8 and I got the S8+ and I have to say, I prefer the S8+. This is the perfect sized phone for my taste. It gives me enough screen real estate for movies and games and it doesn't look massive at all, in my opinion. Plus the battery life is great. This is the phone that I'm going to be sticking with until it breaks down and I need a new one lol so I made sure to choose something I know I'm going to be happy with. At the end, it's all what makes you feel more comfortable using. They're both great phones.

I'll give that a try. Like you said too I see no noticeable difference which is why I keep my S8 at 1080p which should help battery life.

Thank you all very much for the posts. I went to Verizon and my replacement V20 gets here Wednesday. But, I think I will be giving the V20 to a co-worker who would pay the remaining $224 off, and then hopefully I could make the move to the S8+! After that, I (probably) wouldn't be getting another device until the S10 (or whatever it will be called.) Or a different phone, if the Samsung doesn't treat me well, but I doubt that will happen.
