So I currently have the Google Pixel. By far the best device I have ever used. Obviously the aesthetics are something the be desired with the device but functionally it is fluid and amazing. Just like most on this forum, I LOVE technology and get an itch everytime a new device peaks my interest. I am curious what everyones experience is with the newest Samsung device? How is TouchWiz? Previous Samsung devices I have had got super laggy within a few days and that is a no-go for me. I look forward to hearing your responses! Thanks!

I have used Lg V20, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, and various Samsung devices including all the Notes, the 7 edge, and now the 8+. The 8 +...night and day difference from previous Samsung phones. Very snappy and fluid, similar to the Nexus devices. Great camera as well and the screen is spectacular. I like it much more than the 7 EDGE I had previous. 8+ has less angle on the curved screen and is more in line with the Note 7 look and feel.

Josh, I have had Nuxes 6, 5x, 6P, and Pixel XL. Great stock experience and all great phones. I used to be a Samsung Note user but left back during Note 3 because Samsung lag bothered me like no other. I swore I will never go back to anything but stock android.

Forward few years, and note 7 came out. I immediately got the Note itch back all over again and coul not resist. Made the move back but we all know how that ended.

I got S7 Edge as replacement and was not a big fan, but was holding it out very unpatiently waiting for Note 8. Then something magical happen. S8 Plus came out and I fell in love. I could not shake the feeling of buying one and ultimately caved in.

My experience with S8 Plus has been absolutely phenomenal. This phone has absolutely close to zero lag. Coming from years of Nexus and recently Pixel, I know lag when I see lag. S7 Edge was lagy as hell, but this S8 Plus is just amazing. I was very very pleasantly surprised and ZERO regrets.

Things I like that Pixel doesn't have:
* Samsung Pay. Absolutely love it.
* Big beatiful 6.2 inch screen in a relatively small body
* Wireless charging. Yes I use that every day
* camera. Yes I know, Pixel has a good camera. Still think S8 Plus camera is better
* External storage. I have 128gb card for all my music and pictures. Love having that option.
* Water resistant. Yep, took some amazing videos couple times me and my son running under the back yard sprinklers.
* The sexiest looking phone EVER made

I would not go back to plain stock android again. With such a smooth performance on my S8 Plus and all the extras mentioned above, Samsung finally got it right!!

Thanks for saving me the typing buddy lol

I have both and I just sold my Pixel XL while the value is still high. I'm going to miss it because I appreciate what Google was able to pull off with it, and it was one of the most reliable Android phones I've ever owned. The camera was amazing, which is probably one of the biggest things I'll miss. What I won't miss, especially after playing with the Pixel after the S8 is how cramped the screen feels, how wide the Pixel is, and the battery life.

That all being said, I am going to miss the Pixel a lot. Can't wait for the Pixel 2.

The Verizon representative who sold me my phone had the S8+ but used the Pixel as his dailey driver. He demonstrated for me the speed and smoothness of the Pixel.

But his demeanor, the catch in his voice and the look in his eyes amply evidenced his naked lust for the S8+.

It's the screen ratio and polished design. If the Pixel had the long screen and a cleaned up design it would be perfect.

I Used the Pixel for a few months but also sold it for almost what I paid for it. Like others say, its one of the smoothest reliable phones yet. I don't agree with those who rave about the camera though. Best camera ever on a google device, but not better than Samsung, even the Moto z's camera was a bit better than the Pixel IMO.
The pixel though was a boring phone. The design was quite pedestrian., and the huge chin was unforgivable. The s8 is a work of art and feels and looks much more premium. S8 is smooth enough and I'd buy it over the pixel any day. But I'd wait for the Pixel 2 before making any decision.

I can't speak to TouchWiz cause I don't use it I through Nova on every device I get including the pixel XL when I had it. But other than that I dont miss my pixel at all. It was an awesome phone and the only reason I got rid of it is I bought the 32gb version and it filled up way too fast. I went and got the iPhone 7 plus cause there was nothing else out and the 128gb pixels were impossible to get. Switched to the S8+ about a month after release and I love this phone. I don't care what anyone says I have experienced zero lag or any other problems with the phone. Has been running as smooth as my pixel did from the day I bought it.

Imo if you're on the fence between the s8(+) and your current pixel i'd say wait until they show the pixel 2, while i haven't experienced any major lags i do have some stuters here and there but it's barely noticeable and not a deal breaker for me. Although people seem divided on opinions about the s8 : some have no lag and love it,others have had many problems and hate it. It's mostly a hit and miss with samsung it seems some issues can be fixed quite easily others are persistent (see forum posts for examples). IF you're really wanting an s8 i'd say go into a store and check out first which size fits you best then check if it's really for you. Again i haven't experienced anything deal breaking on mine but opinions may vary just like the experience.

Well, let's see. My first Google phone was the Nexus 5 and my first Samsung phone was a Galaxy S6. My Pixel XL is fast without bloatware and no lags. Right now is on his box waiting next Platform Upgrade 8.0. My S8 Plus is fast, bloatware is controlled with an app, no lag. I'm not going to buy the next Google Pixel or Pixel 2. I stay with my Galaxy S8 Plus and next year go for Galaxy S9 Plus.

IMO the Pixel XL is the best device available, however the S8 is right up there for various reasons.

To me the Pixel wins on:
Camera
Software
Support
Security
Build materials (metal > glass)
Charging solution (USB PD vs QuickCharge 2.0)
Storage (128 GB option vs 64)

The S8 then wins on:
Display accuracy
Newer SoC
Wireless charging
Higher water resistance rating
Lower price with sales

I call them dead even on audio, battery life and build quality.

S8+ wins cause of Samsung pay! Android pay is one of the first Google apps that gets uninstalled.

Had a PIxel and it was a great phone but my S8 is just better. Try one for a couple of weeks and you will probably keep it.
