S9+ encryption error - hard reset failed

Just purchased a s9+ and I got an encryption error message requesting me to factory reset the phone.
Tried to do so with the onscreen option but I get the same encryption error message each time.
Tried also the reset through the volume up and down buttons but it keeps displaying the encryption error message
Please help

Encryption error is usually sd card related. Try to remove the sd card and factory reset the device again
