S9+ Notifications (Going CRAZY)

After having this phone for many, many months now and reading all about the notifications and what to check and all, doing and checking the edge lighting stuff, and even trying the glimpse app to no avail, what is with not being able to SEE notifications with this phone?! I just want my screen to light up when I get a text/msg from my msg apps, why can this not happen? I've tried EVERYTHING. Is there really no way to have this happen with the S9? Is it just MY phone? I love the S9 but I just can't stand this.

I don't understand what your asking. You want the screen to "light up" Did you enable the notification light. Have you enabled edge lighting? Try light manager for notifications. ???

Yes, I want the screen to light up and show I have a msg when I get one, instead of just staying dark. I have enabled the notifications and edge lighting. The little, tiny red light will light up, but its easily missed, I'm talking about the screen itself lighting up, something noticeable.

Install Light Manager from platy store. Go to advanced settings, wake screen, then select whichever app u want notifications from

No, but I figured out the issue. Why the screen wasn't lighting up when I would get a msg. I was not using the default msg app, but another messages app. Went to the default one and it works. So I guess that was the issue. Wow. All this time I was using the wrong Messages app. Thank you!

I use Textra and have no notification problems. You may like its custom notification settings better than the stock one.

Was about to suggest that haha Yeah, not all apps (THANK JEBUS! Yes, I HATE that the screen lights up with texts) support that, and some (like Textra or Pulse) allow you to choose how you want it to behave.

For Edge Lighting to work (if you want something more 'subtle' and you want to keep using your current app) you need to set the notification to be a Pop Up on screen (set to 'URGENT' like in methodman's screenshot) or it won't detect it.

I appreciate all the help, def learned a couple things I still didn't know. I am just REALLY happy now that my screen lights up with text alerts. That's a big help for me. I had my headset on a LOT and don't hear the notification, but if the screen lights up, I can pretty much catch it. That was bugging the crap out of me. LOL
