I have a note3. Have had it for many years now and love it. My question is... I want dont need to upgrade, to an s8+ or s9+. I am on prepaid verizon and dont really want to go on contract with them unless it will save me money. I am cheap. Is it better to buy a s9+ off amazon and pay full price and stay on prepaid or go to verizon and sign up for 2 years.

what is the diferance between verizons phone and the us verson on amazon?
pros and cons?

Welcome to Android Central! Good choice in choosing to upgrade to either the S8+ or the S9+!

Though I'm not familiar with Verizon and its plans (I'm from Canada); there is definitely an argument to be had over buying a phone through your carrier or unlocked through places like Amazon or Best Buy.

I've done both, and I actually prefer unlocked. You are not locked into a two-year contract with pre-determined monthly payments - you can pay off your phone as you choose; without hinderance. Plus, unlocked phones will come with little to no carrier bloatware; which opens up more space on your phone, less duplicated apps, etc.

There are, of course, benefits of buying through your carrier, as well; but if you are thinking about buying unlocked/a US version, I would highly recommend it. Just ensure that the frequencies of the phone you are purchasing match the frequencies of your carrier.

The US version will work on Verizon but it is better to buy the Verizon version on Amazon if you can. Also as a prepaid customer I don't think Verizon will have any issues in selling you a S9+ at full price. But I would lurk around on Swappa or eBay and pick up a sealed Verizon S9+ for much less than retail. Good luck.
