Hello everyone. I have a galaxy s9 and yesterday the phone restarted on it's own. When it rebooted it was showing a black screen and the words "optimizing apps ___ through 422" was on the bottom....it went through from 0 to 422 and then restarted again at the end. Not sure why this happened and also why it said I have 422 apps.....but the issue at hand is ever since then...I can only turn my volume up half way. I turned off the volume limiter......moved it all the way up......checked all volume settings etc etc....and even still....I can only put my volume up halfway now. This is very annoying ...anyone ever experience this?

Usually means a Ota software update was probably done or if u kept ignoring it schedule it at one point. 422 apps is also Samsung preinstalled apps.

This is media volume your referring to?

Long press the sound icon on drop down menu make sure mut not toggle on, if that's OK go to device care and open optimize setting make sure media volume not toggle on Screenshot_20200706-222537_Device%20care.jpegScreenshot_20200706-222411_Settings.jpeg

OK, out of the chute, I'd do a hard reboot, hold the volume down button, and the power button until the phone reboots. On a Samsung, it usually takes holding them roughly 10-15 seconds. My S8+ did this once about 3 years ago after an update, let's see if that corrects the problem, or we need to try other remedial efforts. Someone else mentioned a similar glitch in the last couple of days, and that's what he did, was reboot the phone.

Are you having an issue as well, or are you just clarifying for the OP that the update was a system update?

Yeah, sorry. I meant 'optimizing apps' part. Should've been more clear. OP, are you saying the volume bar stops in the middle and doesn't won't to go any further? And which Volume ? Media, Ringtones, notifications etc. Or is it any volume?

Yes the volume media limit will only allow half volume when something is plugged I to the 3.5 mm Jack. Even tho I reset it.....and media volume limiter is turned off....its quite annoying lol

Has anyone figured this out? I have a Galaxy S9 Plus. My media volume bar has a limit which is colored red and I cannot turn the volume up beyond the red. Been like this for a couple of years and this only happens when earphones are plugged in. The volume limiter is not turned on. I've tried everything I can think of but am stuck with the limited volume. Annoying AF. Below are some screen shots. Any suggestions?Screenshot_20230925-192001_Settings.jpgScreenshot_20230925-192011_Settings.jpgScreenshot_20230925-191955_Settings.jpg
