S9+ Wifi speeds

Whats the max wifi these phones are capable of? I only ask because I have gigabyte speeds and my phone doesn't get near that. Now I understand it won't get a gig but was curious. Seems most times it floats around the 200mbps area.

If your router has separate 2.4 and 5ghz bands, you can name each different and connect to the 5 ghz band to get the fastest speed. Some routers will mix both bands under one network name and decide what speed to deliver for you.

If you have a Wave 2 AC Router with 2x2 80Mhz support you can get 400Mb/s one way from an S9. This assume you're using 5Ghz and have a strong signal. 80Mhz will fall back to a a slower speed if signal is weaker than about -60db. Basically you'll need to be in same room or nearby the router to keep an 80Mhz connection going.

You should be able to link up at 867Mb/s. Since that's both ways, you'll get roughly half that in real world when downloading or uploading. Figure slightly less than 400Mb/s each way.

You can try to upgrade your AC Pro firmware and see if that helps. Also do the following in your controller:

Upgrade to 5.9.32 or higher.

Enable advanced features

Don't use airtime fairness or band steering in AC Pro device settings. To force 5Ghz set a separate SSID and assign only 5Ghz radio.

Make sure 5Ghz radio is set to 80Mhz

For WiFi networks use WPA2 AES only.

Turn off connectivity monitor.

Disable unscheduled auto power save delivery



Do you have another router or using the isp modem as a router?

FYI, your AC Pro is capable of 1300Mb/s link with about 600Mb/s each way. Your phone isn't.
