I am debating about getting an S9+ along with the S3 frontier watch. I had the S3 frontier with the pixel xl phone and ran into several annoying issues The two main issues were battery drain on the phone from the S Heath app and anytime I connected to my car Bluetooth the watch would disconnect and would not reconnect until I forced it. I had to use an app to create rules to reconnect and it was just buggy at best.

I currently have an iPhone 8+ with an Apple watch and it works fairly well together without much effort. It says connected when I connect to my car info system. It seems like the the Samsung watch watch will do the same with a Samsung phone, but I am not 100% sure and this is coming from research a year ago. The watch compatibility is a really big thing for me and I do not want to get make the switch and be like well crap it does not work as well.

So those of you with an S9+ and a S3 Watch how nice do they play together. I would love to hear from anyone that has experienced the Apple watch and Iphone setup as well that could give me some Pros and Cons to both.

I have the Note 8-gear S2 combo and they work brilliantly.

It might also be something to do with the Bluetooth issues faced by Nougat/Oreo, which I too faced with the OnePlus3T and Nexus 6, but never with the S8 or Note 8.

If you do plan to get the S9, then the S3 is the perfect watch to pair with since it also has the MST function for Samsung Pay.

I have the Gear S3 Classic and Frontier and both work great. And no issues connecting to my car's Bluetooth. I used to have the Gear S2 as well and I used that with a Sony Z5C and a GS7 without any issues. I connect to a 2013 Chrysler 300.

I have a Gear S3 Frontier and Galaxy S9+. I use Android Air and they all work seamlessly. The watch and the phone are paired to my car, and there are no problems.

If you can wait a few more months it seems like the Gear S4 will be released.

I would hate to buy a Gear S3 at retail price now and the Gear S4 launches in the fall.
