I've used the stock Samsung Texting app for a few years now with no issues.

There are alternatives such as Textra as one example if you wish to experiment.

I switched to Textra on my S9+, but I do like Samsung's app, so I am using it on my Note 9.

I am also trying to stick to Samsung's keyboard instead of going to SwiftKey.

I have never used a third party text app. All I know is Samsungs text app which has never given me any problems.

Never had an issue with that? used the samsung messaging app for years, mostly for the seamless integration with the GEAR S3 watches texting.

it was in the news not too long ago as being a problem with the S9/S9+. I didn't know if the note had the issue or not.
