Same Google acct on two EVOs?

My wife got jealous of my new EVO and insisted on replacing her old "dumb phone" with one, so we are now a two EVO household.

I set up a new Gmail account for her and downloaded a few free Market apps to her phone, but I'm wondering if we can "share" one paid app that I'm currently using to track our expenses. Is it possible (or "kosher") to add MY Gmail account to HER phone in order to download the app? Or can a Google account only be linked to a single phone?

I really don't have a problem buying a second copy of the app for her phone, but hey, if I can save a few bucks ... :p

IMO i'd keep it all separate from the wife rather than try to save a nickel. you're asking for trouble in more ways than one. you never know.

good luck.

I'm pretty sure the market is tied to the first primary google account on the phone.

I say support the devs and if it's a good app and your both going to use it might as well buy it twice.

As a app developer myself, please, please buy it, don't steal. All it does is hurt the platform and discourage developers from creating more apps you might be interested in. Many developers aren't exactly making a living off of these apps in the first place, so every dollar helps.

Chock one up to apple for allowing of "sharing" apps to 5 different devices or something like that. I would also like this ability or at least a cheaper price on the 2nd one.

That being said, if you know the app is good then just buy it. However if the sharing is to keep things in sync so they both read off the same google docs acct or something, than talk to the developer to try to implement something.

Last but not least, which money app is this. I am still looking for a good one. I fell in love with checkbook on palm webos and have not found something as easy to use yet.

Uh, no. Apple only lets you "share" the apps among devices on YOUR iTunes account. Same situation here, as it's tied to a specific person.

How much is the app that you want to steal?

How much do you make an hour?

Have you already spent more on stealing the app than it costs?

Ouch, no need to bite my head off ... I did say in my original post that I have no problem buying a second copy if necessary

In a former life I too was a programmer (embedded systems software) so I absolutely support developers. In this particular case, the app is one that I want to essentially transfer to my wife's EVO - I won't be using it any longer once she starts tracking her expenses (I was doing that for her on my EVO until now).

Most likely I'll just buy another copy on her Google account and call it a day.

You could try to contact Google or the dev and see if you can transfer a purchased app (I've honestly never wondered if you could do that so I'm not sure if you can or not).

I agree with everyone that encourages you to buy a second copy for your wife. That said, the way licensing is setup in the Market, it is indeed technically possible to have a second copy of an app installed as long it's downloaded using the same Gmail account. Remember you will also be giving her access to everything related to your Gmail account, including mail, contacts, and calendar. Because of this caveat, I doubt this is much of a thread to the developer community. I'm more concerned about all the warez sites out there hosting cracked apps and robbing hard working developers blind. Those people should go to prison.
