So, the question is: are there any compelling reasons for me to wait, seemingly forever, for the Bionic?? Anything negative about the Charge? I know little about it. Clue me in, folks. (I can't wait to get rid of my POS Storm2--I want a 4G phone BADLY!) I can be patient just so long. The wait for the Bionic has been torturous, given how much I hate my current phone.

Single core processor is my knock against it. That and the fact that it's by Samsung and I'm not to impressed with them and updates. Fascinate just getting Froyo now is pathetic.

Edit:
Also I'm rocking a Storm 1 and I can say that this phone doesn't interest me at all and I hate my Storm. Only Samsung phone I'll go for at this point is the SII.

Yes but this in their Droid Line-up so I see them supporting it VERY well.

I am in agreement though about the Single Core. I just can't see the upside to purchasing a Single Core this late in the game. I will say this though. For the "average" person the Charge will be a fantastic device. I would definitely recommend it to people but for people like us, you know the wackos who follow tech to all corners of the earth in search of the best of the best lol, I'd say to hold off if you can. The Bionic or Galaxy SII is the way to go.

If you are not a wacko like me I would highly recommend it. It looks to be a fine handset....

Hardware-wise, the Bionic (at least as we once knew it) wins in almost every category. The biggest exception is the screen. Samsung's SAMOLED+ screen should be amazing. Although too bad it's not qHD. So, it really depends on how willing you are to wait.

My wife is looking to finally upgrade to a smartphone. So, I'm going to check it out. We may end up getting the Charge for her, although we'll check out the Thunderbolt and DInc 2 if that's out too. For her, the lack of prompt updates may not be as big of an issue. She's one that doesn't have to have the latest and greatest, as long as it works.

That's why I'm going to give it a hard look for my wife's first smartphone. ;)

If that is the case and they will do a much better job with support then I think it ups the value some and makes it a better grab. I agree that this becomes an excellent phone for the average consumer.

However, I'm one of the wackos, as CK puts it, so this phone is not making the cut for me. I hate my Storm but I'll gladly wait a few months for a phone that I feel will do a better job of lasting through my two years if I don't decide to sell it and purchase another phone first.

is the galaxy sII coming to verizon? and how soon? the bionic's timeframe is too late for me if I can get something just about as good.

hmmm...my wife can't get a phone til Oct, so if I get something soon (I'm eligible) that is decent, I could always give it to her and get something faster (but I want an EXCELLENT screen) in Oct.

To answer your first phone about the SII, it is all speculation at this point. Nobody knows if it is even coming to Verizon for sure, although it is likely to come in one form or another at some point. Don't think it is likely to come out before the Bionic.

If you need something very soon then Charge or TB(if you want 4G). If your wife can upgrade in October then just pass it on to her and get the Bionic or whatever else is out by that point. Should be quite a few more options by then.

Its going to cost $300 on a two year contract.

Have to admit that price is fairly alarming, I'm really hoping it is not a sign of things to come. Already annoying that Verizon got rid of 1 year contracts, going to be very upsetting if they start charging 1 year prices for 2 year contracts.
