So I want to sample different ROMS. Right now I'm using uncommon v1. & I've made a nandroid backup. Now if I try another ROM and don't like it can I just use my nandroid and restore uncommon? Or do I need to flash it all over again?

Thanks

Yup. Your nandroid restore will restore EVERYTHING that you captured. It will be like you never left the rom.

Nandroid question: Where do I find nandroid? I am rooted, have clockwork recovery installed, and made a back up through that, but don't recall ever seeing anything called nandroid.

man...am I a n00b or what...

nandroid = backup and restore

You should see a 'backup and restore' option in your clockwork recovery. This can also be initiated with 'rom manager'. These features will become your best friends. Trust me. :p

Yup, okay good, that's the one I used. *phew* I almost knew what I was doing! hahaha... Thanks for the speedy response.

I would also recommend going into ROM Manager and rename your backups to something that you can remember better because, trust me, when there's like 5 or 6+ backups in there with just the date and time, it gets confusing.

I'll do something like rename them "CM6-9.27.10-rEVO" and that helps a TON.

Then when you want to go to from one ROM to another, you can just restore it.

I would wipe thoroughly before doing a nandroid recovery. Makes sure you don't have any trash from the ROM you're getting rid of.

Since you're doing a recovery, it'll populate the system data so that it'll be just like you never left it.

I just keep a log file describing what each backup (original nandroid name) has. Could I simply rename each backup directory when the phone is mounted to the computer? I don't use ROM manager (I flash the ROMs manually from the recovery menu :D )

You can rename them using Rom manager or using a computer they should be located in the rom manager file then back up or in a file named nandroid.

also when flashing ROMS is it safe to remove the zip file after its been flashed? and is there any harm in having more than one ROM zip file in the sd card?

thanks

After you flash the zip is just taking up space (unless you don't have a nand of the Rom) and you can have as many zips as you'd like. They just sit there til you flash

Yes. Once you're flashed the ROM. it's done. It doesn't ever look to the SD card again unless you want to flash it again.

No harm leaving it on your SD card...unless space is an issue. I usually download to the PC, copy it to the phone, then blow it off the SD card when the next latest and greatest comes down the pike.

Thank you gentlemen ;)

So does that mean that any zip file, once unzipped, can be removed if you chose to?
