Sam's galaxy note 20 ultra not recognizing micro sdxc card

Brand new galaxy note 20 ultra
Brand new micro sdxc card
Software is android 11. One UI 3.1

When I insert the sd card in the phone, the phone does not even recognize it. However, if I put that same sd card in my older phone or tablet it works. Any shared experiences or advice please?

Try formatting the SD card first...

Welcome to Android Central! Where did you buy the card? Counterfeit cards are very common, so if you got it from some random online seller or anywhere besides a well-established retailer, then the chance of a counterfeit is higher.
