I'm a repair tech and primarily handle phones for one of the 4 major US carriers. I've seen countless actives come in for a very specific issue that we cant seem to get a fix for but have not seen many people speaking out about it externally. Internally we're in a sort of panic as it seems every S8 Active is experiencing this issue but I wanted to ask a larger group what they're experiencing.

Every S8 Active I've seen lately come in with dropped mic issues happening intermittently. When it happens the affected users need to put the phone on speaker to resolve it for that call. It doesn't appear to be a service issue, going off of the shear number of cases our technicians handle regarding this problem. That said, I've only heard grumbling about this issue internally so I'm wondering how many people are having this problem and either don't realize it, or if its with specific carriers or specific markets.

If you have an s8 Active and have had any issues with your mic, could you sound off, maybe let me know who your carrier is, when you're having issues, or even if you've never had any kind of mic issues at all. I realize you'll only know you're having mic issues if the party on the other end brings it up, but please let me know. I'd like to try to figure out how widespread this issue actually is.

I don't have one, but you do realize that "the affected users need to put the phone on speaker to resolve it for that call" means that the bottom mic is being shut off, right? (And if hanging up and making another call fixes it, it has to be a software issue.)

We're leaning towards it being software based, yes. The problem is Samsung has told our contact that not enough cases have been reported after the latest update, but we've seen no slow down in reports of mic issues. I'm wondering if its a problem with preloaded software or if multiple carriers are having this same issue.

I'm on AT&T and I've not had any problems that I am aware of. I've had my phone since 12/18.

At first I blamed it on the case I was using. Yes, people I talk with say it clips my words, almost as if it had noise cancelation, but of me. I have a 9plus I compared it to. It does it intermittently.

Updated 8.12.This problem is eliminated if blue tooth is turned off, regardless of it not being connected to any of the previous paired devices.

I have always had the problem of intermittent mic on calls on my S8 Active, that are resolved by switching to speaker mode. My initial thoughts are the cut offs appear to be related to my head movements and resulting tilting - perhaps engaging the accelerometer? Originally I assumed it was coverage issue, but switching to speakerphone shows it is internal to device.

AT&T is my provider.

My mic is out on my s8 active. Speaker works. But only on speaker. I've tried all the recommended fixes, with no luck. Nothing has helped.

Hi all. Is there any fix of this issue? I bought this phone used, currently it is on Android 8. Wondering will update to 9th version fix it or not. Cause in other case need to return it as it was to the seller...
