Samsung A51 mirror case advice?

Hi all,

new to Samsung A51 - I was looking at cases, and am interested in the mirror flip cases. However, I can't seem to find reliable information on whether they are "smart" cases. Some listings I've found state "no IC chip", some don't say anything about it and I'm wondering if it's just a see-through tinted screen protector with no other function...
Is there a particular brand or seller on line (USA, please... don't want to wait a month to get it from China!) that I can depend on for selling the correct product? That is, so I can answer calls, scroll, etc. with the case closed.
Thanks!

Since I had never heard of such a case I went and took a look at them. Um yeah those are just see through covers. You're not getting an LCD for 4 bucks. Plus looking at the cases there's no thickness to them so there's no battery, no battery no display. At best they are just colored tempered glass covers. They sell polarized film screen protectors for privacy as well but with the mirror case you can kind of turn it on and off. The IC chip would be if your device could recognize when the case is closed or open. It could change the mode of the phone. So when it's open everything is normal and works just like always, when it's closed it would work like AOD, always on display, and just show whatever you set as your AOD settings. Clock, message notifications, reminders.... Etc. It might also turn the screen on and off automatically when opened or closed. Stuff like that.

I have no idea where you'd get one, but I hope the rest helps.

Hey VidJunky,

thanks for your response!

I didn't expect to get an LCD - I was just wondering if that cover actually conducts touch somehow. Maybe it's not even glass, just a superthin tinted protector that does? If you have a minute to spare please look at this video, which is in Indonesian (?), so I can't understand anything, sadly. It's a cover for an A50, but I am sure the idea is the same.

At 1:28 he opens the case, I can't tell what the front cover is made of... Then at around 4:08 he scrolls through his contacts with the case closed... Then again at 4:42 he taps on some settings with it closed.
If you have further insight, I'd love to hear it. Thank you!

VidJunky thanks for the reply. It seems like the longer message I had typed is being moderated (maybe because it included a link)... Cheers!

At 4:07 he clearly taps a link that opens the contacts and then visibly scrolls through the contacts so whatever the screen is made of when in contact with the phone screen it allows touch to pass through. As for what material the case is made from, you'd have to turn to the reviews for the case for that information. If it's glass, plastic, sturdy or cheap the reviews will tell you. I'd also trust reviews over descriptions. While researching a screen protector for my device I watched a review where the package was clearly labeled tempered glass and the protector inside was clearly plastic. Look at the one and two star reviews for the real scoop on the product.

VidJunky:
The problem is there are hardly any relevant reviews. One states "it doesn't fit", and the others are for different phones (sold under the same SKU, basically, from the same seller but with options to choose your phone).
I am going to pass on the case. I don't have the patience to order several of them from various sellers just to see if one of them might just fit/work :)

Thank you!
