To start off, I am new here and have only registered an account just for asking this.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A52 (A525F/DS on the cover) which has the back cover partially peeling off due to a previous problem with heat exposure. Everything seemed to work fine anyways and there was no performance issues so I just let it be. Just an hour ago my phone has been dropped into a dipper filled with water. About 50% or so was submerged in tap water. Now since the back cover was peeling off, I cannot draw comparison to whatever troubleshooting or possible fixes others did with the same phone since mine is not in the exact same protection they had, even against full submersion, since the water has penetrated past the cover and negated any IP rating.

What I did after submersion is turning it off ASAP. Under a minute, it was turned off, HOWEVER, I had been so paranoid about screen damage and in my hysterical thinking and clouded judgement, I decided to plug it in the charger and click the power button, so I will know if the display still works, it did, for a few times. After, I accidentally turned it on instead, and now the display is just flashing a bright white light for around half a sec when I try to open the screen. This continues for awhile until I was browsing solutions and using the power+volume down buttons to restart, since the phone would not turn off and requires PIN input. Fortunately, the screen manages to display the Samsung Galaxy logo on startup, and display the lock screen. At this point I was hopeful that there was no massive damage done, and got even better relief when the touch screen functions and I was able to shut down my phone. I also just removed the entire back cover at this point and found water intrusion. I wiped down any water I can see, mostly just small "droplets" of water and not totally "wet", but there might be more water inside that I cannot see nor reach.

Now, after this long explanation, my phone is now turned off, I have not plugged it since even if it was low on battery, and just set it aside so I wouldnt do anything stupid impulsively. I am coming to this forum in DESPERATION of finding answers of possible damages to my phone after all that I have done to it after it got wet. I am also willing to do research on any possible fixes and how to execute them, all via DIY. I am willing to learn about anything that relates to solving my problem, and hopefully getting this phone functioning again, it has all my important information, regarding personal, business, and even academics. My pc is also just recently been wiped so other information that is connected to the phone has been gone.

Thanks to anyone in advance, I hope someone will take notice and have the patience to read all through this. I have checked that one post in 2015 about what to do when a phone gets wet, but I do not think it will be helpful in my situation, and if it is and I just didnt believe it or just has not known it, please educate me about it.

Welcome to Android Central! This may be helpful: https://forums.androidcentral.com/threads/guide-oh-no-my-phone-got-wet.477140/

The reality is that even if the phone is working right now, there's an increased chance that something will fail in the near future, as any residual moisture that you're not able to get rid of could cause progressive corrosion. The steps in the above link might help to get rid of any residual moisture, but it's hard to know if the damage has already been done. The most important thing to do right now is to make sure your important data has been backed up or synced somewhere safe.
