I tried it out. Samsung owns it but they don't seem to be running it. it looks like a Samsung app but it had ads and the paid version has ads when charging. uninstalled.

It's not a paid version if you don't pay for it. You just get additional features in exchange for lockscreen ads.

Anyway you can try Datally. It's Google's own app that does the same thing for mobile data. The main difference is for Datally, VPN is only active when you're on mobile data. Turns off once connected to wifi.
