I picked one up at Fry's for $40 a couple months back, and I gotta say I'm severely disappointed in a Class 10 having so much "lag", lockups, and song skips. Although, in it's defense, it is used in a Samsung Epic that is going on 2 years old and has a number of issues itself.....maybe being that old the benefits of a Class 10 card just can't be realized.

Hi All,

It's my understanding the Class rating is about access speeds, do we know what is the max capability of the SGSIII? Is a Class 10 the best for this device?

Thanks!

Hey guys, I read this really interesting post on the xda devs forum, and it makes a whole lot of sense. Actually, it helped me in my decision on whether to get a class 10 card or not. I hope this helps: 32GB microsd cards - xda-developers

That list is from last year. Sandisk didn't have its class 6 or 10 available at the time, only the other CRAPPY manufacturers made them that I'm well aware of. At the time, Sandisk only made up to class 4 which is why it was the BEST!! Now that Sandisk has made the class 6 and 10, guess which one is the BEST???

Taken from the list, if you notice, there is NO Sandisk for class 6 and 10.....

Class 10
- Lexar 32GB High-Speed microSDHC Mobile (LSDMI32GBSBNAR)
- Patriot Signature 32GB Class 10 microSDHC Card (PSF32GMCSDHC10)
- Wintec FileMate Mobile Professional SDHC - Class 10 (3FMUSD32GBC10-R)
- TOPRAM 32GB Class 10 MicroSDHC Card (TRmicroSD32G_C10)

Class 6
- Komputerbay 32GB microSDHC Class 6

Class 4
- SanDisk MicroSDHC 32GB Class 4 Card (SDSDQM-032G-B35, SDSDQM-032G-B35A, SDSDQM-032G-B35N)
- Kingston 32GB microSDHC Flash Card (SDC4/32GB)
- Transcend 32GB microSDHC CARD Class 4 (TS32GUSDC4)
- Patriot Signature 32GB Class 4 (PSF32GMCSDHC43P)
- 3C Pro 32GB Class 4 microSDHC Card (3C_TF32G_C4)
- TOPRAM 32GB Class 4 microSDHC Card (TRmicroSD32G)

Class 2
- SanDisk microSDHC 32GB Card (SDSDQ-032G-A11M) [North American Version]
- SanDisk microSDHC 32GB Card (SDSDQ-032G-P36M) [Pacific Rim Version - should be the same as North America]
- SanDisk microSDHC 32GB Card (SDSDQ-032G-E11M) [related to MemoryVal?]
- Transcend 32GB microSDHC with SD Adapter (TS32GUSDHC2)
- Dane Elec 32GB microSDHC with SD Adaptor (DA-2IN1-32G-R)
- Duracell 32GB microSDHC with SD Adaptor (DU-2IN1-32G-R) [likely the same as the Dane Elec DA-2IN1-32G-R]

You're absolutely correct! But it still makes sense that the higher class cards are slower when it comes to random access times. I also am running a class 4 Sandisk card on my Droid X and never have had any problems with lag or skipping on any media file. With that said, however, I am very curious to see how the class 6 or 10 Sandisk cards do in the SIII.

In another thread I had a coversation with one of the mods here. He was able to supply benchmarks that showed the S3 can write at class 10 speeds to the SD card.

That MAINLY applied to the other manufacturers, not the Sandisk cards. The Sandisk cards are the ones that are truly reliable in performance!

I'm definitely in agreement with you on Sandisk's quality; just haven't seen real world tests on their class 6 and 10 cards yet.

I received my Samsung Class 10 32GB card today - ordered through Newegg.com. I did a number of speed tests and my typical real world transfer rates are 21MB read and 11.5MB write. I never expect the maximum of what is listed, in this case 24MB read and 13MB write. I'm perfectly fine with what I got.
