I carried a Samsung since my Blackjack, and a couple of years ago went to OnePlus for a more "stock android" experience, and really liked it. The interface was cleaner, it was more customizable, and just a smoother running phone. However, since AT&T (or any carrier) doesn't support WiFi calling on devices they don't sell, I picked up a Note 10 Plus.
There are several things I miss about my OnePlus, but at the moment the thing I miss most is the base Android dialer. The main reason being I can't even sort my favorite contacts (which felt revolutionary when I got my OnePlus) and the ones I call the most are at the bottom off the list (names starting with "R" and "W"). When I make dozens of calls a day to the same contacts, it's clumsy and fumbling. It seems stupid that Samsung felt the need to reinvent the wheel on so many of these base features of Android.
I found the app in the app store, and it's blocked for my devices. So, I tried to install the Google dialer from the APK, but it's failing. I enabled My Files to install from unknown sources and I get a generic "app not installed" error with no further detail.
Anything I can do replace this dialer?
