Well I am not 100% sure but it seems that way. There are two i9000 variants that cleared FCC on Friday. I think one is the Epic and the other is the Verizon version. I could be wrong.

We here at Engadget Mobile tend to spend a lot of way too much time poring over the latest FCC filings, be it on the net or directly on the ol' Federal Communications Commission's site. Since we couldn't possibly (want to) cover all the stuff that goes down there, we've gathered up all the raw info you may want (but probably don't need). Enjoy!

FCC Fridays -- Engadget Mobile

The i9000M shows AT&T's 3G bands, so that's not it. The i9008 shows GSM1900, which should be CDMA. I can't tell for sure if WiMAX was tested.

I did some research and it looks to be the Verizon version since nothing about wiimax was mentioned. Samsung also made the data confidential.

How could the Captivate have only cleared the FCC on Friday if it was released today? That would be really frustrating if the US Cellular/Cellularsouth Galaxy S was cleared before the Epic when it wasn't even displayed in the first place.

It cannot be the captivate because it lacks wireless n so it must be something else.

Hold on, the Captivate is Samsung i897 and the Vibrant is the Samsung SGH-T959 though. Could the Epic be labeled as something else possibly? Or do they go through a code rebranding as well?

EDIT: None of the i900xx phones are the Epic 4g. Both run on GSM and the bands are different from CDMA bands. One device doesn't even have Wireless-n (i9008). Looks like we'll have to wait some more :(

Might want to change the thread title. There's enough misinformation floating around the internet as it is.
