I?m still a newbe at rooting and still don?t fully understand the whole thing. I have the Samsung Fascinate from Verizon phone. I had it rooted using the FascinateRoot_v02 prior to the last firmware update to 2.2.1 (on baseband version S:i500.04 V.ED01 and Kernel version 2.6.32.9) which seems to have wiped out my root. I have tried to re-root using the same file as above but get the following:

Successfully exploited, installing permanent root files and deleting temp files
Mount: operation not permitted
/data/local/tmp/com.sh: cannot create /system/xbin/su: read-only file system
/data/local/tmp/com.sh: cannot create /system/xbin/busybox: read-only file system
/data/local/tmp/com.sh: cannot create /system/app/Superuser.apk: read-only file system
Unable to chmod /system/xbin/su: no such file or directory
Unable to chmod /system/xbin/busybox: no such file or directory

I?ve read/looked at a lot of strings and I?m still not sure what I have to do to re-root. Do I need to take it back to stock 1st or is there something else I can/should do?

Any help and direction with this is appreciated.

Landshark,
Thanks for the info. When i go to the CWM Recovery All link, there are several "Download" buttons there. Are they all for the same file that DroidXcon refers to? Also to add the superuser + busybox package onto my SD card, does it have to be into a certain folder or just drop it onto the card?
Thanks for your quick response.

All of the links are to the same file. I also use multiupload for all my files so there are multiple options for downloading the same file. Multiupload and megaupload are probably your two best options. And no it really doesn't matter where on your sd card you put the su + busybox file as long as you can find it when you are in CWM.

The CWM file comes in as a zip file. When I open the zip file, it is recovery.bin. Can you suggest a program to open this file?

The CWM-all file should be a .tar file. Leave it in tact, flash it through ODIN, make sure you use the PDA button not the phone button. The su + busybox file should be a zip file. Also leave that in tact, place it on your sd card and flash it in CWM.

Thank you - it worked (as if you had any doubts)!! You are AWESOME! Now a couple more questions:

1. Will I need to go through all of this again if another update comes through?
2. I used to have a wireless tether loaded proir to all of this and had deleted it off - no I don't see it in the market. Do you have an app you can suggest to use for rooted phones?
3. What's next? What else can you suggest to do with this phone?
