Question Samsung Find my Device

I lot my Samsung device yesterday and found it using the app.
However, perhpas I'm missing something but when I se;lect ERASE MY DATA the system indicates that a confirmatiion code has been sent - I guess to my phone - Which I have Lost!!
Seem illogical but perhaps I'm approaching this the wrong way.
Any advice appreciated

That option just sends a data erase command to the phone, but if it's not online at the moment, all it does it have it 'pending'. Once the phone comes back online, the command will go into effect. (Can't tell a phone to do something remotely if it's not 'listening', after all).

I can't remember if you can 'bypass' the command if it hasn't been effected should you find your lost phone, however.

Also once you select factory reset you will no longer be able to track the phone
