samsung galaxy 3 mini hard reset ?? help

tried this:

Press and hold VOLUME UP and Home(center) button
Press Power until the phone vibrate
Wait until you see the Android logo then release all the buttons.
Select Wipe data/Factory reset with VOLUME DOWN, press Power (right hand-side)
Select YES -- delete all user data with VOLUME DOWN and then press Power
After format, press Power again to reboot phone. (select reboot system now)

Could not get into hard reset mode. Volume down to get into the other mode with "downloading" screen worked however hard reset can't figure out. ?
I was able to reset using the phone menus however would like to confirm i can do it with the buttons.

Strange problem, whenever I would reset the phone then enter my gmail email so it would know which aps to install it would go into talkback mode for visually impaired and when you do good luck getting out of the mode or having you phone work correctly. Samsung so failed on this mode.

Power off the phone...hold volume up+power on until you enter recovery. It should take you to a stock recovery with the option to factory reset.

Did you actually do this? You own a mini? I have tried this countless times and never entered restore mode.

This phone came out? I didn't even know it was out

sent from the best smart phone (not phablet) on the worst network- the galaxy S III unfortunately on T-Mobile

same here. NEVER went to screen to let me reset just kept restarting
