Samsung Galaxy 5 Camera Lens SHATTERED

So this is my question... is there a problem with the lens protector shattering on these new phones?
Mine is only 5 weeks old... never been dropped... has a basic Otter Box case (from Costco) and yet the outer lens & inner lens is shattered! I'm wondering if 'internal pressure' is causing it to shatter (after all it is sealed... it is water resistant so I think it must be sealed). There is no damage or scratches to the silver square frame that goes a round the lens protector.

The outer lens can be replaced (there is an U-tube video on this) for about $6 (amazon.com), but in my case the inner lens is also broken so this is not an option for me, but at least I have insurance ($50 deductible) so I'll be getting a new camera.

FOR SURE... GET A GOOD PROTECTOR THAT HAS A LENS FRAME PROTECTOR AROUND THE LENS... it is very exposed to possible damage. My previous Samsung S3 never had this issue... my wife's Apple I-4s has the lens recessed (a better design).

So if there is a design problem, I bet Samsung will be hard pressed to admit it!! USER BE AWARE!!

I've never experienced this myself, although I question why in the #3ll these phone manufacturers don't put in recessed lenses.. I love having a naked phone, but the way way the camera protrudes has me a little on edge
