Welcome to Android Central! Try a system cache partition wipe, which won't erase any personal data or settings. Follow the steps in this video, but at around 1:10, instead of selecting "wipe data/factory reset," make sure you select "wipe cache partition." Then select "Reboot system now."

I also upgraded my Grand to JDQ39.I9082XXUBNB2 version and it has slowed down my phone tremendously. I am not able to hard reset my phone. On clicking Volume Up + Home+ Power buttons it comes up with android logo and text as "No Command". If you have found the solution, please share the same.

Hello,

Me too was suffering from the same issue. Samsung galaxy grand hangs after the recent update. Following the work around, I cleared the cache partition, but still the issue persists. Also, while clearing the cache partition, it displays as 'Erasing' and then immediately shows as 'Error' falling back to reboot.
Any idea?

Same here. After selecting "wipe cache partition", it says erasing and then shows "error" following with a reboot.
I did it one more time and the same observation but I think now the slowness issue is resolved. You can also try one more time and check.

I was wrong as still the phone is damn slow.

Sorry to all of those who are responding with cache partition wipe difficulties. Unfortunately, I don't have many other suggestions at this point, short of a factory data reset.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Grand Slow Performance after JB 4.2.2 upgrade.

Though cache partition clear showed error for me, seems like my phone is running smooth now. My contacts and gallery were also hanging, so I installed QuickPic(gallery) & DW Contacts from playstore, disabled the default one. So far all running good.

@Varung23, try something like this. identify which app is hanging, and try replacing it.

Cheers!

Thanks for the work around. I have removed all the downloaded apps and now mobile performance is lot better. However, Samsung support team should look into this issue and send new updates with permanent solution.
