Samsung Galaxy III mini - turing itself off/battery drain

Hideous issues with my Samsung Galaxy III mini. I charge it every night and following a routine update a week or two ago, the battery is draining ridiculously quickly. It keeps switching itself off, then keeps trying to turn itself on again, and again, and again. Eventually, I have to remove the battery for 10 mins or so (because the sound of it trying to restart gets quite annoying after 10 mins or so), then put it back in again. On doing so, and plugging the charger in, it will sometimes come back on with 35% battery remaining. Any suggestions other than dropping it from a great height?
