Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) Screen stays Black but audio buttons work

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Started using it. Lasted about 1/2 hour. Screen blacked out. The Home and Return Keys stayed lite. The screen then would flash off and on.
Tried holding the Volume and Power keys. It rebooted and again lasted about 1/2 hour, maybe less.
Contacted Samsung (got someone in Bangladesh or some other 3rd world country. They said I'd have to send it back (2 week turn around) . VERY PISSED right now.
Will advise when I get it back.

That just happened to me i was freaking out but i tried memorising the buttons to switch it off did t work but 1 thing that did was if hold in the power button and the hone button ur tablet will switch off then u switch it back on and it should be back to normal

I can confirm this works %100!
I did EXACTLY as stated for battery, and all :)cables and making sure they're reconnected making very sure the white lines meet as marked on motherboard. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!! You saved my tablet! God bless

worked for me also --

Removing BOTH cables was the key, not just one.
The cable on the right is for charging, nothing related to display. If your battery is connected, disconnect the flex cable of USB port, turn it on, your tablet still displays normally without it. So there is no point of try reconnecting the USB flex for display problem.

View attachment 137464So I had the horrible black screen of brick after dropping this thing all of two feet onto carpet. Just before I threw it in the trash I saw a post that saved the day. Well I had to take the rear panel off to do the two minute fix and was ecstatic. Now the problem is that I can't get it back on properly and there is not any videos on the 2014 around yet.

The issue is a one inch, long plastic piece that is on the same side as the stylus. It is the only loose piece inside the rear case. I have tried every single angle and configuration but it always feels like I am going to break something if I try to close it all the way.

I am guessing that the piece has something to do with the WiFi because my range has been drastically reduced since the fix.

Any ideas will be appreciated. ThanksView attachment 137463

Im having the same problem did you manage to fix the issue my WiFi signal is so bad jowb

As for my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, I think I've found the culprit. I had the same issue where the screen went black but removing the back reattaching the screen cable fixed it temporarily.

What I did to fix was go to "Lock screen" setting and set the "Lock automatically" to "immediately".

Ever since I have done it, the issue has gone. It seems there's a software issue but god only knows.

I hope this solution works for others too.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" Tablet went to the Black Screen of Death condition and I managed to restore it to life without opening the case.

If the Screen is Blank and the Tablet is unresponsive....

1) Check that the Processor is still running:

Press the Power Button once for 5 seconds
Press the Volume Up button several times and listen for a ping on each Press. This indicates that the Processor is running and the SHUTDOWN and RESTART Icons are on the Screen (but you can't see them) !

2) The Shutdown Button is about 1cm above centre and the Restart button is about 1cm below Centre of screen

Tap the Screen at the Restart Position..... This will bring up the Confirm button in the CENTRE of the Screen (Still invisible). Tap the Centre of the Screen Once ... The Tablet will shutdown and Restart .... You will have to enter the Pin Code using the Screen Keyboard.
