Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Camera gives worse colors than on my galaxy s2

Is the camera on your note 4 also giving you very warm yellowish colors or did i receive a faulty phone. My note 4 gives worse color reproduction than my galaxy s2, i cannot begin to describe how disappointed i am with the camera in my note 4. It doesnt give accurate colors indoors when there are little light, like there would be on a party or movie night. Not only are the colors yellowish but the sharpness of is also quite poor, the skin color of people are so bad that i consider the photos worthless. My s2 gave much better photos indoors, maybe not as sharp or clear as the note 4, but it game a much more realistic look and the people really looked as the s2 camera had captured.

Do your note 4 give this bad color reproduction inside? Can it be fixed with some settings?

Picture; left (note4), right (s2)... : My pant are jeans blue as in the s2 picture, my duvet covers are exactly as in the s2 picture (gray/white), and my wall is white

Do you have hdr on or off for these pictures?

Try long pressing the center of the area you want to focus on before you take the picture. That makes it adjust focus and exposure to the subject.

See if those ideas change anything for you

Does your light source and camera light source setting match? If you are indoors with incandescent or fluorescent lighting and the camera is set to Sunlight you are not going to get proper color. You may wish to check your camera settings.

I have tried with both hdr on and off, and in this particular scene it gives no difference. I also tried long pressing for focusing, but that doesnt change the colors.
Where i live we mostly use incandescent lightning indoors this might be the problem, the note 4 just isnt good with that type of lightening. I tried changing the camera settings to all 4 white balance options, but it didnt "fix" the problem, it still looked more natural on my s2. I even had an option to set the white balance to incandescent lightening, but that just made the picture limeish. The mode is always auto though, even it i change the settings, usually there should be a mode manual, right?

Oh, and i just tried to front facing camera, and that one gava much better color reproduction than the back camera. It showed the correct colors, but the sharpness was note that good though.

The image having a green cast when shooting under fluorescent light with the camera set to incandescent light is "normal" if the camera software is working correctly. Are you sure you have removed the clear plastic from the face of the front camera's cover glass? Since the software is the same for both cameras, it doesn't seem to be a software problem. You could have bad camera hardware. If you can't get this resolved before the return date I would suggest exchanging it for a new phone.

Try the different white balance settings, they show immediately on the screen and you can choose the correct one for your lighting, I don't believe HDR would have any effect on white balance and that is what is causing your color to be off.
I do believe you have to reset white balance if you use anything other than auto WB each time you start the camera, I haven't found any way to make your settings sticky yet.

Mine has no problems in low light and is even better than my kids I6.

Yes, i guess i will have to return it if possible, but the waiting time for another one is so long in my country. And these wrong colors only happens indoors where the lightening is kind of warm (but far from how warm the camera makes it to be). These pictures are both from the note 4, one if from the front facing cam while the other is from the back. Notice the yellow tint from the back camera. And also how the front facing camera gets more space into the picture, but that is maybe normal? I wish i could have another note 4 to compare before i return it :/. And is the size of 3-4mb normal when shooting in 16mp mode? feels kind of small.

Have you tried using the editing software to make adjustments to the image? Or downloading Snapseed to do it? You might find this is a way to deal with it. I rarely take pictures any more that I don't adjust in some way, so I don't see it as a hassle to use editing software.

You know your link is about the screen color reproduction and not the camera, right? I never mentioned having a problem with the screen .

I will try if any editing will make it better.

It is the indoor photos where warm light is the light source that are the problem (most homes have this type of light, photos inside hospitals and institutions and that type of lightning are OK). And I find it strange that my s2 and the front facing camera gives better color than the rear facing camera. So so nobody have different colors from their front vs back camera indoors? Would be great to know this before I try to get it replaced, maybe it's supposed to be like this. .. below is a photo taken with different light than from my home, and as u can see the colors here are better, although a bit purple and not completly white .

The only other suggestion I have at this point is to go back to your carrier's store, and take a couple of pictures with your device and a Note 4 demo phone. Compare the two shots and see if yours is still not as good as the demo. That way you'll know if a swap is necessary.

Normally I'd say it is a settings thing, but I don't have that much of a difference between my front and rear cameras.

Yes, i guess thats what ill have to do. The problem is that my carrier only has a webshop, i will stop by another store to compare though. The only bad thing is that the lighting in those stores are not the same as the lighting in my home, its much brighter in the stores. Awesome app your recomended btw ... So you dont see any difference in colors between your cameras?

No, I haven't noticed any difference between the two in terms of color depth. Field of view and clarity (due to pixels) are the only major differences I can see.

However, all of my test shots I've done since you started asking have been in fluorescent light, since we can't buy incandescent bulbs in the US any more. So if that makes any difference, I don't have a place to test at the moment.

Aha, yea we cannot buy them either btw. Although we have some fluorescent light that can give the illusion of incandescent bulbs, especially in conjunction with a lamp cover. I mean at least it look similar . There has to be something with the strange lightening in my home , because with a flash it looks normal. But it is strange that the back and front camera give so different results, like its a filter on the picture from the back camera, hmm.

Just chatted with the store, and it would take 7-10 days fro them to inspect the phone. And if they didn't find any problems i would have to pay a service fee of about 70$. And if is had a fault, i would have to wait for it to be repaired, probably 2+ weeks.

I had the exact same problem with my note 4...
Actually i also had ths problem woth two note 3 devices...
I was extremely disapointed aswell... I have contacted samsung about it, but they will not acknowledge the problem what so ever...
To be sure, i tested some devices in stores, and all the note 4 and also s 5 devices have this problem...
I really do not understand this...
