Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Palm touch to mute not working in stock music player

I have my music on the Samsung stock music player and I assumed that the palm touch to mute gesture works the same way as in previous phones. But I was surprised that no matter how hard I tried, I could not palm touch to mute the music that was playing.

The gesture worked in the voice recorder app, but I'm not sure what happened that made it stop working in the music player.

Am I the only one with this problem, or is it indeed a removed feature?

Re: Palm touch to mute not working in stock music player

In Settings > Motions and Gestures > Mute/Pause, it says "use the following motions while the screen is on to mute incoming calls and alarms." So apparently that is all that gets muted by these gestures, i.e., sudden, unexpected sounds.

Oh, I didn't see that. Samsung must have changed that feature to make it more refined instead of for general media consumption.
