When I found sync frequency setting choices (I can't even find that place again), there was no "push" option and the most frequent choice was '5 minutes'. How can I get higher frequency, i.e. "push" for the outlook platform with my corporate email domain?

If the option isn't enabled it means the account doesn't support Push notifications on the stock app. Have you tried removing the account and re-adding it?

The normal setting for push is off. The timing is for poll. If you don't poll, it's push. That's never made clear by phone manufacturers, email services, email program developers - no one explains exactly what "push" and "poll" are and how they relate to each other. But if you're not polling the server at regular intervals, the email app should revert to listening for the server - which is push. (No guarantees for an outlook app - they're normally written to interface with Exchange Server [which most email apps historically didn't] and the rest of the things that pertain to email are on a "should I put this in or not" basis. As long as the app can talk to an Exchange server, the developer is happy.
