Samsung Galaxy S10 keeps resetting Chrome on it's own

I just got this refurbished Galaxy S10 a couple of months ago and it's already showing how goddamn awful it is. I use incognito mode for Chrome, and this is the third time I've left the phone on overnight, and for no [language redacted by Mod] reason it resets the Chrome app on it's own. I'll open it up and instead of my incognito tabs, a new regular tab opens up and all of my progress for whatever I was doing is gone.

What the hell is wrong with phone, and how can I get it to stop doing this? I'm just about ready to throw this garbage in the trash. I never leave any other apps open so I doubt it's a RAM issue.

I'm assuming that that same thing did NOT happen with previous phones? (just in case it's a feature of Incognito, to close all tabs after x hours of not being used)

Welcome to Android Central! I just tested on my Pixel 3a XL -- it looks like if Chrome is closed (i.e., swiped away in the App Overview), then reopened, the previous non-Incognito Mode session is restored (because it's being synced with your Google account), while the Incognito Mode session is gone. This makes sense to me, since the whole purpose for Incognito Mode is for the session not to be tracked in your Google account.

What might be happening with your phone is that Samsung's firmware might be automatically killing apps in the background in a misguided attempt to improve battery life -- see this site: https://dontkillmyapp.com/ If Chrome is battery-optimized in the system settings, try turning battery optimization off.

To further test, I'll leave an Incognito Mode session active on my phone and see if it goes away after prolonged idle. If it doesn't on my phone, then I'd say it's related to Samsung's firmware killing apps.
