So I have updated to this version and I am facing massive battery drain.
I have looked everywhere to find a solution for this and most of people say to do Factory Reset.
I have done hard reset and standard one from "Backup and reset" but nothing has really changed. (I have cleared the cache too.)

I have turned off almost everything.
-Changed "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "Never (increases data usage)"
-Changed "Network mode" to "GSM only"
-Turned off "Sync" and "GPS" and also location requests on every application that has it in its settings (I do not even use Sync...)
-Turned off "Touch Sounds and Vibration"

And to be more ironic I have "Power Saving" on.

I would also like to add that this is the second day of running this update and first day of having battery fully charged while on this update.
Battery keeps draining without even touching the phone, although I have had WiFi on for couple of times just for Whatsapp...
I have also read that it will require a couple of more charging for the battery to adjust, but can not blame me, I am kinda desperate and hoping to get some answers.
I have also noticed that the WiFi response is kinda slower, on previous version WiFi was functioning normally but I am noticing that my internet is slower even though I am in the same room where my router is and read somewhere that this update has some errors with WiFi, could that be true?
I really do not know what more to add, I really am desperate. LOL

Thanks in advance.

P.S. As I was writing this, probably took me 5 to 10 minutes, my battery dropped for 2% without touching the phone.

Welcome to Android Central!!! Do you have any apps that use background data? Background data uses data in the background and that leads to the battery being drained a lot even when you aren't using the device.

I use Back Key when exiting applications (phone's help tooltip suggested using back key because it closes the application) and Clear memory in RAM to close applications.
I am not aware of any running application because I exit applications when done with back key and like I said clear memory in ram too.
When I clear memory in ram, it usually lowers to around 350 and after few seconds jumps to 500 again.
I just do not know what to do any more, from 6% to 3% in 15 minutes.
I have bought the phone few days ago and it feels like it is going to be charging several times during the day to use the phone even without unlocking its true potential.
I am sorry for not providing screenshots earlier, maybe it would have helped you.
I would also like to add I have taken out battery and put it back again before doing hard reset and standard one, could have that affected its performance?

I have left the phone on until battery died by itself.
I have charged the phone to full and for 30 min uptime 6% has already been drained without even actually doing anything on it.

I have the same problem. I had no issues with battery on ics. Since I updated to this Jellybean version battery hasnt been the same.

I have tried battrry calibration, factory reset with full format. Tried seeing If it would improve with charge cycles. Nothing.

It js so bad that even if I have 50% going to bed I risk being woken early by battery notification instead of the alarm.

Last night I tried the following:

Turn off wifi
Turn off mobile data
Turn on power saving

This seems to have worked. I still had a reasonably high percentage of battery. Off course when I wame k turn everything back on and the battery gets hammered.

My conclusion from this is the issue must be with the wifi and mobile data drivers which I have seen reported elsewhere.

I now need to find a solution for this as day time use requires data/wifi, it is a smartphone after all and I would like it to last.

Firmware flash or driver update is what I'm thinking. Or dumb phone. Tired of trouble shooting smartphone issues.

I'm having MASSIVE battery problems with my S2. Have run it for over a year on ICS with no major issues. Since updating to JB 4.1.2 I'm having real problems with the MediaScanner Service Wakelock. I've been all over the web looking for solutions. Have downloaded various apps to try and fix the problem. I've re formatted the external SD card (16gb).
I'm not rooted. I don't want to root. I'm considering a factory reset, but even that doesn't seem to have fixed the problem for others.
Whats worse is that people have been having this problem for about a year judging by the posts on the various forums. I'm seriously not happy (to put it politely) that Google seems to have not bothered to address this problem at all for a year. I just want ICS back, but guess I'd have to root my phone for that (which I don't wanna do).

Apps I've tried so far.. 'Rescan Media' plus several other media scanning apps to stop auto start of Media Scanner . SCS Toolbox to search for and delete any corrupted data from the SD card. SD card tester to check funtionality of the SD card.

Seriously people can ANYBODY help?!?! I've ordered a new battery and a new class ten SD card, but in the meantime I'm open to any suggestions.
Love my S2, and just want it back!!! :'(
