samsung galaxy s3 factory reset failing but phone works fine

Samsun Galaxy S3 GT I9300T
when doing a factory reset from the menu option and holding the buttons. I get the following error.
CF-Auto-reboot
detecting device ...
- Recover: /dev/block/mmcb1k0p6
- system: /dev/block/mmcb1k0p8
- cache: /dev/block/mmcb1k0p8

--- Fail

Rooting (SuperSU)

Restoring stock recovery ...
cleaning up ...
rebooting in 10 seconds

I have cleared out the cache, deleted all apps, images, photos, music, logs
as much as i can remove.
The phone works fine i just cant do a factory reset.

Something tells me it's the root. Not sure, but you might need to un-root to be able to do a factory reset. Or find a root-friendly way of wiping data.
