Samsung Galaxy S4 battery draining

I've bought my Samsung s4 a week ago and it's totally new but my battery drains so fast as am using it and it takes up to 5 hours to fully recharge please help

How many apps are you running at the same time? Turning off wifi and bluetooth should help. Adjust your screen brightness to either automatic or a lower setting.
Games and video are the real battery hog for this phone.

Yes but my brightness is about 40% and I have all the features off including blue tooth and I use the app called battery doctor to close all the apps running in the background and I barely get 3 hours of battery and it takes up to 5 hours to fully chargr

Both times seem excessive. Short for usage, and long for charging. Faulty battery?

Since you've only had it for a week, take it back and exchange it for a new one.

Battery should charge on an average of 1% per one minute and last 10% takes little more time.Totally it shouldn't take more than 105 minutes to reach 96 or 97% of battery level from 0%
Use only charger and cable provided by Samsung.Other chargers won't work properly.

Make sure that you update to 4.4.x if possible (4.3.x had somewhat bad battery life but 4.4.x battery life is much better)
