Samsung Galaxy S4 - Home screen widgets "freeze"

Ever since the 4.3 update, every 24 hours or so my home screen freezes.
I can still scroll through the different pages, open folders, and click shortcuts and widgets, but the clock and any other interactive widgets (widgets that light up or display text when you press them) don't respond.
For example, the "Assistive Light" widget turns on the phone's LED, but it won't turn green itself (signaling the light is on).
If I try to add a widget while things are frozen, it is just a transparent box.
I originally thought it was just a bug with my clock widget, but every widget I have freezes.

Has anyone else experienced this and are there any fixes?

I 've got the same issue (freezing stock widgets few times a day) on my brand new Galaxy Note 3 with Adroid 4.3. The same widgets worked fine on my previous Galaxy S3.
It's a problem of many many galaxy note 3 owners for sure
