Samsung Galaxy S4 - Invisible phone

I have bought what was supposed to be a genuine Samsung S4. I do not believe it is. I have had a CPU-Z readout on the phone (visible at CPU-Z Android Validator Beta 0.1 ) But when I put the phone into factory made, it has a MTK6577 chip. And it starts up with Mediatek logo.
I have tried using Odin and MTKdroidTools on my windows 8 computer, but the pograms do not see the phone. I have downloaded to my computer the current Samsung as well as the current MTK drivers, but to not avail. The phone remains invisible. I can cut and paste files from and to it, I can debug it, but the MTK drivers remain XX out. Even cynogen rom installer states it is a non supported phone.
Oh and did I mention the phone has an Invalid IMEI, which I cannot fix. I think I need to get rid of the IMEI invalid problem first, before I can start delving deeper, but nothing works. I would grateful for any assistance what so ever. I can upload the version printout in the factory mode if that will help. But the about phone page is pure Samsung.
Model Number GT-I9500

Baseband Version I9500XXUAMDK
Kernel Version 3.4.5-526212 se.infra@SEP-111 #1 Tue Apr 23 23:00:57 KST 2013
Build Number JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDK
I await some assistance

I don't know that I can offer any serious help. I can offer some numbers from my Verizon branded Galaxy S4 currently running Android 4.3, model number SCH-I545. Its original Android version (last July) was 4.2.2, and its baseband number was I545VRUAME7. After the most recent update, it is I545VRUEMK2. I believe that the I545 may relate to Verizon; perhaps the VR does too.

My original build number was JDQ39.I545VRUAME7. Obviously the last part is the baseband version, as with yours; the JDQ39 is consistent with yours. After the most recent update, my build number is JSS15J.I545VRUEMK2.

My original kernel version was 3.4.0-690088 se.infra@S0210-13 Thu Jun 13 10:14:27 KST 2013. After the most recent update, it is 3.4.0 se.infra@R0210-02 #1 Wed Nov 20 12:44:43 KST 2013 (I have no idea how to read any of that, other than that KST must be Korean Standard Time.)

I hope this is of any help at all! Where did you buy the phone?
