Samsung Galaxy S4 - Just got a replacement S4 from Asurion

I'd like to root it like the original, which I bought rooted.

I know there are issues with regard to which version the phone is already.

So...can anyone walk me through opening the box, getting started, etc.? Can I just power it up, or do I need to be careful from click one?
