I have been having a issues with my GS4 SCH-I545...I can download but not install the newest KitKat update. My phone is not rooted, however. I have tried everything imaginable other than the Kies thing. Safe mode, soft reset, factory reset, full blown memory wipe. Any help would be greatly appreciated....since Samsung has been unable to solve my issue.

Thanks!

Consider yourself lucky. Kitkat will ruin everything that you currently like about your phone. It brings nothing but headaches.

I had to remove my microSD. But looking back I wish I never updated. This update sucks.

I haven't had any problems with the kit kat update. Can still put songs, music & videos on my sd card plus I've found 4 apps I can put on my sd card.

No problems here with KitKat either. I have 16 apps on mine.

I've heard that it's not the best. But I was told to wipe my phone out so now I have NO updates whatsoever.

I tried removing my SD card and it made no difference.

Besides calling Verizon tech support, I really don't know. You can try a factory reset first, but for me that's not an option because I'll lose too many things that can't be backed up. Maybe a soft reset (pulling the battery out for a minute)? You're not the first person to have this issue so I'm thinking back to fixes that have worked for others. Not for nothing, but this may be a blessing in disguise. 4.4.2 is by far the worst released update so far. CPU performance on the Galaxy S4 is throttled now on KitKat (28,000+ on AnTuTu running 4.3 and now I get about 22,000 on 4.4.2). No other enhancements come to mind.
