Samsung Galaxy S5 ATT screen issue

I have an issue with a Samsung S5 (g900a). Sometimes the phone operates normally. But ever now and the screen freezes and leaves a scratchy screen (similar to the scratchy tv screen). Has anybody every had this happen?

Hard to say if this is due to a hardware or software issue. You could try booting into Safe Mode, which can help distinguish a 3rd party app vs a preinstalled app/system/hardware issue, but this can be tedious if the problem doesn't happen frequently: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28456
