Hello.
I got my Galaxy S5 and after Lollipop 5.0 update the Default Email App is incredible slow to start. It takes 15sec from I push on the icon to I can see emails. In those 15sec I get a screen "Opening"...

Any idea on how to fix it?

Try clearing your phones cache, sounds like things might be bogged down.
power your phone off, then hold down the home volume up and power button until your in the recovery now use your volume rocker to select wipe cache. Hit the power button to make it happen. after it's finished select reboot system and hit the power button see if this helps

Thx. for answer, but it does not work. I done and it does not help. Still using long time to start.
I tried also using Wifi Only and 4G only and same think there.

Any other ideas?

Sometimes uninstalling an app that's acting up will help, but if its an app that came preinstalled that's not always possible. Have you tried a simple battery pull?
Which carrier are you with? Verizon?

I had the same problem. I have 4 email address going through the stock email app. Mine was extremely slow. I changed it dramatically by going into the settings and changing the "Period to sync Email". This setting determines how far back you sync your emails with your phone. I use to sync all my emails. Doing that, slowed the app down severely. Changing to 1 month, dramatically sped the app up. I did that on all my email accounts and it seems to be working much better.

systemofadown1 : I use Telenor in Norway
Nick: It did not work. Changed from all to 1 month and still slow like "#¤"¤...

I had this same problem on a Sprint Galaxy S4. Finally figured out that when I "deleted" emails, they were really sent to a "Trash" folder (not truly deleted). Every time I opened the email app, it had to load the thousands of "Trash" emails. As soon as I emptied the Trash folder, my email opened immediately every time. This was never a problem with KitKat. Hope this helps
